Something unimaginable has become reality: All public life and most economic life is at a standstill. On the streets, in most companies, in politics. Late, in some regions too late, the reality of mathematics and exponential functions has had to be faced, which are no longer comprehensible for us humans with common sense alone.
What is important now is that the imposed and necessary measures are implemented and adhered to quickly and consistently. In that way, we will be able to cope with the situation more quickly and with less human suffering. Our European neighbours are also important in this regard. Only if their systems also remain stable will the mobility of people and goods work again. Without this, a return to functioning economic and social structures will be unthinkable for quite some time.
Directly experiencing the cohesion in our society in this difficult situation is probably one of the important positive experiences. We can be grateful for this great effort made by people - for example in healthcare, food supply, security, etc. -, businesses and politicians. This is how we will overcome this crisis and also learn a few things. Things always emerge that could possibly be organised differently or better in the future.
It is also becoming apparent now how important it is to be able to deal with uncertainties and surprises. Leadership qualities become particularly apparent when brave decisions are still made in an unclear situation with little information. To be able to adapt flexibly to new facts again and again, to move forward and thus provide security.
The new beginning that inevitably follows such situations brings opportunities to grow with what has been learned. To throw old things overboard and to think completely new. To discover new perspectives on our personal lives and happiness, on the meaning and benefits of organisations and businesses, and how we can use the potential of collective impact as a region in the future. Doing so requires that we imperatively shift our communication to positive examples already now. Because they exist! This frees up the necessary energy to confidently master current problems as well. Fear is a virus, and the virus then is also our fear.
My plea: Let's think not only about the difficulties, but also about the opportunities that this crisis offers. We are currently showing once again how an entire region - people, companies and politics - can create great things together. That's what I call location quality that feels good.
Take care of yourself and stay healthy!
